Whilst I have no affiliation with him, I see Dr. Asnul Maxillofacial Oral Surgeon at Gio Dental Denpasar. Incredible work. I had 5 implants, a bridge, extractions, temporary crowns and composite veneers, all after several videoconsults and emails back and forth over 2 months. Please be very careful if you want veneers or teeth whitening and have gum (periodontal) disease or recession. Making veneers taller to hide this is rife among less qualified dentists. There are many advertising extremely blatant photoshopped before and after photos suggesting treatment can be done in one day. It’s impossible to go from red angry gums to pink healthy ones in a matter of hours.

Gio has many subspecialties, periodontists, endodontists, prosthodontists, orthodontists and of course many general dentists. For implants I’d advise only using a dentist with the following qualifications – Oral Surgeon (Sp. BM – Dr. Asnul), Prosthodontists (Sp.Pros) and Periodontists (Sp. Perio). One of the reasons why dental implantology has not become its own specialty is because the field of dental implant medicine is still quite new in Indonesia. According to Kepkonsil No.33 of 2019, specialist dentists who have the competence to exercise clinical authority on dental implants are Dentists who are Specialists in Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Sorry, a lot of information but I’m a planner and researcher. Obviously despite all best intentions things can invariably go wrong, all I do is try to mitigate risk. Suggest you Whatsapp Gio as they are VERY responsive even though incredibly busy. Then you’ll have a comparable ‘benchmark’ with which to make an informed choice. Tell them ‘Mrs. Stef’ has advised you to get guidance and a quote. Despite my dentist being an actual surgeon he was no more expensive than general dentists providing the ‘same’ surgery.

Their name doesn’t pop up as often as others as they don’t need proactively seek tourists; but I did a lot of research as I wanted an internationally accredited dentist. Dr. Asnul is frequently in Europe honing new techniques plus he operates at BIMC for more complex cases both dental and maxillofacial. I had the option of a general anaesthetic at BIMC for my implants, but I was fine having them done in clinic. However, it’s great to have the option if you are an anxious patient.
