Seven months ago, I created this community with one simple aim: to help Australians and New Zealanders make better-informed decisions about dental, medical and cosmetic treatment in Bali and Indonesia.
At the time, I never imagined where this journey would lead.
Today, we have built a thriving Australian community dedicated to dental, medical and cosmetic treatment in Bali and Indonesia, founded on respect, education, transparency and genuine patient experiences. Together, we have created a place where members can ask questions, share their journeys and access information that encourages informed decision-making rather than impulse decisions.
Many of you know that I have invested an enormous amount of time researching healthcare providers, travelling regularly to Bali, meeting with clinicians, hospital executives and practice owners, understanding Indonesian healthcare regulation, and developing educational resources designed to help members better understand their treatment options.
As this community has grown, so too has the responsibility that comes with it. The volume of enquiries, educational resources, provider engagement and ongoing research has now reached a point where operating informally is no longer appropriate. For that reason, I have formally established TJC GROUP Medical and Dental Pty Ltd, a fully incorporated Australian company.
This is an important distinction.
A fully incorporated company operates under significantly greater legal, financial and governance obligations than a sole trader. It provides the professional structure, accountability and corporate governance necessary to support long-term partnerships, responsible business operations and appropriate regulatory compliance.
This transition has not happened overnight.
It has taken many months of planning, consultation and research.
Because the business operates across Australia and Indonesia, all contractual arrangements, corporate governance, taxation, visa requirements and cross-border regulatory compliance are being managed through specialist legal advisers in both Perth and Jakarta. Every aspect of the business has been deliberately structured to operate within the legislative and regulatory frameworks of both countries.
Professionalism, governance and compliance have never been optional—they are fundamental to how this business will operate.
Alongside this community, I will shortly be launching a dedicated website.
The website has been created to complement the community—not replace it.
This community will continue to be the place for respectful discussion, genuine patient experiences, questions, support and shared knowledge.
The website will become a permanent educational resource containing information that simply cannot be presented effectively through social media. It will include clinician biographies and qualifications, hospital profiles, explanations of procedures, specialist information, patient education articles, informed consent resources, regulatory guidance, pricing where available and other evidence-based resources designed to support informed healthcare decisions.
Together, the community and the website will provide a comprehensive resource that supports people before, during and after their healthcare journey.
As part of this next chapter, formal professional partnerships will continue to be developed with carefully selected healthcare providers whose values align with those of TJC GROUP Medical and Dental Pty Ltd.
Those partnerships are founded on professionalism, transparency, patient-centred care, informed consent, ethical practice and regulatory compliance.
They are intended to strengthen the educational resources available to this community—not change the reason this community exists.
The principles upon which this community was built remain exactly the same.
- Patient safety before convenience.
- Informed consent before treatment.
- Education before promotion.
- Transparency before assumption.
- Professional standards before popularity.
- Respect before opinion.
My role has always been to educate, encourage independent research and help people ask the right questions before making important healthcare decisions. That will not change. Clinical advice, diagnosis and treatment recommendations will always remain the responsibility of appropriately qualified healthcare professionals. To everyone who has shared their journey, answered another member’s question, offered reassurance to someone who was anxious, or simply contributed positively to this community, thank you. You have helped create something genuinely valuable.
This next chapter simply provides the professional structure needed to continue growing the community responsibly, ethically and sustainably. I am excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to build a trusted community and educational resource that promotes transparency, informed consent, patient safety and higher standards in cross-border healthcare.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why establish a formal business?
The scale and responsibility of this community have grown significantly. Establishing TJC GROUP Medical and Dental Pty Ltd provides the appropriate legal, corporate and governance framework to support ongoing education, research, professional collaboration and future growth in a responsible and sustainable way.
Why launch a website alongside the community?
Each platform serves a different purpose. This community will continue to provide discussion, support and genuine patient experiences. The website will provide structured educational information, clinician profiles, qualifications, hospital information, procedure guides, informed consent resources, regulatory guidance and other material that members can access whenever they need it. Together, the community and the website create a far more comprehensive resource than either platform could provide independently.
How are healthcare providers selected?
Professional partnerships are considered only where there is clear alignment with the values of this business. This includes professionalism, appropriate licensing and registration, ethical practice, transparency, patient-centred care, informed consent and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining high clinical standards.
Can members still choose whichever healthcare provider they prefer?
Absolutely. Every member is encouraged to undertake their own research and make decisions based on their own individual circumstances. Nothing about that changes.
How are legal and compliance matters managed?
Operating across Australia and Indonesia requires careful attention to legal and regulatory obligations. Contractual arrangements, taxation, corporate governance, visa requirements and cross-border compliance are being managed through specialist legal advisers in Perth and Jakarta to help ensure the business operates responsibly and in accordance with the applicable legislative and regulatory frameworks of both countries.
Community Standards
Since this community was established, professionalism, respect, transparency and evidence-based discussion have been at its core. Those standards will remain. Respectful questions and constructive discussion are always welcome. Speculation, gossip, misinformation, personal attacks and commentary unsupported by evidence are inconsistent with the purpose of this community and may be removed in accordance with the community rules.
This community exists for one reason:
To help people make informed, confident and safe healthcare decisions. Thank you for being part of that journey.
